Thornton Lodge Care Ltd was re-branded as Morecambe Care Ltd last year to reflect the fact that we now have four residential care homes in the local area.
We have been at Thornton Lodge since 1986, building an excellent reputation with our residents, their family and friends and other healthcare professionals. This home caters for 36 people and specialises in the care of individuals who may suffer from functional mental health issues (Schizophrenia, Bi-polar disorder) and some cognitive disorders (Alzheimer’s, vascular dementia and alcohol-related dementia). The age range of the individuals requiring our care ranges from people in their 40’s right through to old age.
Over the past few years, we have purchased 3 more care homes;
Fernbank Lodge in Heysham caters for 18 individuals who are elderly, the elderly mentally ill and individuals with a degree of cognitive impairment.
Arnside Lodge, just off Thornton Road, houses 32 individuals and specialises in caring for vulnerable adults with cognitive impairment (dementia of various causations).
Springfield Lodge is the latest home to come under our umbrella. Situated in Bare, this home caters for 15 residents who are elderly and some individuals who have a degree of cognitive impairment.
We have an experienced management team and over 100 dedicated staff (we pay our staff the Living Wage Foundation rates of pay), and an emphasis on staff training. For clients recreation there are mini-bus excursions every week and a dedicated activity co-ordinator ensures that residents receive the appropriate mental stimulation. Food is an important part of our resident’s day and to their well-being so we serve interesting and varied menus, with a choice of meals.

We are inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Lancashire County Council Social Services and Lancaster City Council Environmental Health Dept. We have been recognised by Investors in People and hold the Quality Assurance mark ISO 9001:2015 awarded by URS.
